Who we are:

Forest Path Therapy is a therapy practice in the state of Illinois that specializes in providing affirming care to LGBTQIA people, with an emphasis on care for people who are trans or gender diverse.  Additionally, Forest Path Therapy focuses on supporting clients in identity development, writing letters to access gender affirming surgery, queer parenting, family creation in queer relationships, as well as trauma, anxiety, and depression.  We provide individual therapy, relationship therapy, and some family work.

Mentorship Model:

Our mentorship model is designed with two key aspects.  First, we know that most people who join a group practice would like to eventually run a practice of their own.  Secondly, we know that many early career therapists struggle with creating a work environment that is both sustainable and provides space to recognize that therapists are people.

In an effort to address the two key aspects above, Forest Path Therapy seeks employees interested in using a mentorship model as scaffolding towards building their own private practice. Employees who come to Forest Path Therapy will be provided with a supportive framework of supervision, consultation, and training that will help guide the Therapist in deepening and broadening their clinical work with clients while also identifying how to meet their own needs in a sustainable practice and working environment (e.g. total caseload, pacing of the day, etc) as well as what their personal needs will be while growing as a clinician.  Employees will also receive focused mentorship on learning the components needed to build and launch their own practice.

Values in Clinical Work:

Forest Path Therapy supports clients within a clinical framework that recognizes and holds that clients have knowledge and expertise about their lives and their current struggles.  We therefore as therapists build and create working relationships that are both collaborative and respectful in providing therapy to clients.

Additionally, Forest Path Therapy recognizes that creating a sustainable work practice is vital for clinicians to maintain in the field.  Clinical Therapists at Forest Path Therapy will work within supervision and consultation to identify their clinical case load, hours worked, and setting (virtual vs. in person).
